Four Great Locations for Your Holiday

Malé – The Vibrant Capital
Malé is the lively capital of the Maldives and a great place to experience the country's culture beyond its famous luxury resorts. Explore the colourful streets, visit the Grand Friday Mosque, browse the local markets and discover traditional Maldivian food. The city offers a fascinating contrast to the peaceful island resorts and is ideal for travellers who want to experience local life, history and culture.

Maafushi Island
Maafushi is one of the Maldives' most popular local islands and is an excellent choice for travellers looking for a more affordable island getaway. Its beautiful beaches, turquoise waters and wide range of guesthouses make it particularly popular with couples, families and budget-conscious travellers. Visitors can enjoy activities such as snorkelling, diving, dolphin cruises, fishing trips and water sports, while also experiencing everyday island life.

Baa Atoll
Baa Atoll is one of the Maldives' most spectacular areas for nature and marine-life experiences. The atoll is particularly famous for Hanifaru Bay, where visitors may have the opportunity to see large numbers of manta rays and, at certain times of year, whale sharks. Its coral reefs and crystal-clear waters also make it an excellent destination for snorkelling and diving. For travellers who love nature and underwater adventures, Baa Atoll offers an unforgettable side of the Maldives.

Vaadhoo Island
Vaadhoo Island is famous for the magical “Sea of Stars”, a natural phenomenon where bioluminescent marine organisms can make the shoreline appear to sparkle at night. The glowing effect is naturally occurring and depends on environmental conditions, so it cannot be guaranteed on every visit. During the day, visitors can enjoy the island's beautiful beaches, clear lagoons and peaceful surroundings before experiencing the possibility of seeing the glowing shoreline after dark.
- Climate: The Maldives has a warm, tropical climate year-round, with temperatures generally ranging from 25°C to 31°C (77°F to 88°F). The dry season runs from December to April, offering plenty of sunshine, while the southwest monsoon from May to November brings more rainfall and occasional stronger winds.
- Transport: Transport in the Maldives mainly depends on speedboats, domestic flights, and seaplanes. Resorts often arrange transfers from Velana International Airport in Malé. Speedboats are commonly used for nearby resorts, while seaplanes and domestic flights are ideal for islands further away.
- Cuisine: Maldivian cuisine is influenced by Indian, Sri Lankan, and Arabic flavours, with seafood playing a major role. Popular dishes include Mas Huni, Garudhiya, Fihunu Mas, and fish curry. Most resorts also offer a wide range of international and vegetarian dining options.
- Safety: The Maldives is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, particularly within the resort islands. Travellers should still take normal precautions, respect local customs and laws, and take care when swimming or participating in water activities.
